BUSH On ANTHRAX's Reunion With BELLADONNA: 'Everything Happened The Way It Was Supposed To'

Former ANTHRAX and current ARMORED SAINT vocalist John Bush was interviewed on last night's (Friday, November 18) edition of Eddie Trunk's "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM.

Bush, who fronted ANTHRAX between 1992 and 2005, temporarily rejoined the group for a number of shows in late 2009 and early 2010 but stepped aside in May 2010 in order to make room for the return of Joey Belladonna. Belladonna was the lead singer of ANTHRAX from 1984 to 1992, and was considered part of the band's classic lineup (alongside Dan Spitz, Scott Ian, Frank Bello and Charlie Benante),which reunited and toured during 2005 and 2006.

When asked about whether he has heard ANTHRAX's latest album, "Worship Music", and how he feels about his decision not to take part in the recording sessions for the CD, Bush replied, "I've heard bits and pieces of it, what they're doing. To me, it's all good. I think that this is something that the fan base was wanting and anticipating and I think everything kind of happened the way it was supposed to for Joey to be part of the 'Big Four' shows. And I think that's what the ANTHRAX fan base was kind of looking forward to happening and it all kind of came together. . I think that that was what was supposed to happen. I really think that it was the fate of my life and those guys' lives. As far as making that record, people wanted to hear something from Joey; this is the first record in 20 years. Before this, the last record that came out of original material was me. So it wasn't [like] there was this long gap of stuff that John didn't participate in; I was the guy on the last record. It so happens that in the ANTHRAX world, sometimes things take a little longer for things to come out. 'We've Come For You All' came out in '03 and this one came out in '11, so it was about eight years, so it was awhile, but I was still part of the last record. So I think people were ready for something else from the band, and I think that the way that it all came together was the right way."

"Worship Music" sold 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous studio CD, 2003's "We've Come For You All", opened with just under 10,000 units to debut at No. 122.
